Property Law Intelligence Series - Issue 1

August 14, 2026

We are pleased to share the first issue of our new Property Law Intelligence series which you can download here.

‍

At Bell Howley Perrotton, our work is rooted in tax, but our clients' property decisions rarely exist in a tax vacuum. The legal framework around leases, planning, development, restrictive covenants, service charges and property management can be just as important to value, risk and the success of a transaction.

‍

So, alongside our tax updates, we wanted to start highlighting some of the wider property-law developments that are particularly relevant to investors, developers, landlords, advisers and anyone active in the property market.

‍

This first issue looks at ten recent decisions and developments, including:

‍

  • restrictive covenants and development risk;
  • evidence in property disputes;
  • tribunal appeal deadlines;
  • reserve and service-charge funds;
  • gas-safety obligations;
  • future surrender agreements;
  • development options;
  • planning and deemed consent; and
  • holding over under the Electronic Communications Code.

‍

The aim is simple: practical, concise analysis of the cases and developments that could affect real-world property decisions.

‍

We hope you find it useful.
